Veil (“the extension”) is a browser extension that displays text you choose — a web page you capture, text you paste, or a PDF you open — inside a clean, professional reading layout. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information.
Veil does not collect, store on any server, transmit, sell, or share your personal data or the content you read. All processing happens locally in your browser. There are no analytics, no trackers, and no advertising.
Everything you put into Veil — captured page text, pasted text, extracted PDF
text, any screenshot you upload to use as a letterhead, your headings, and your
settings — is held only in your browser using Chrome’s local storage
(chrome.storage.local) and in the page you are viewing. None of it
is sent anywhere. Deleting the extension, or clearing its storage, removes it.
api.gumroad.com — used only if you choose to
buy the optional one-time upgrade and enter a licence key. The key is sent to
Gumroad to confirm it is valid. No other information is sent. If you never
upgrade, this is never used. The optional one-time upgrade is processed by Gumroad. When you purchase, your payment details are handled entirely by Gumroad under their privacy policy. Veil never sees or stores your card or payment information; it only checks whether a licence key you enter is valid.
Veil is a general-purpose reading tool and is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the extension’s store listing.
